Packaging & Freshness
Premium Cigar of the Month Club does it right when it comes to packaging and shipping their cigars. The cigars come in a ziplock bag that contains a humidification device to keep the cigars comfortable during transit. The ziplock is placed in a cardboard box and extra padding is added so that the cigars do not move around and get damaged.
Needless to say, our cigars arrived in pristine condition – fresh and ready to smoke! Other cigar clubs take note: this is how you properly package and ship your cigars!
Cigar Selection & Newsletter
Here are the 5 cigars we received:

- Diesel Rage Toro
- Xikar HC Series Habano Colorado Salomon (Club Exclusive)

- Fonseca Arana Churchill
We were pleased with the lineup and excited to try the club-exclusive Xikar HC Habano Colorado. The breakdown seems to be 1 high-end cigar, 2 top-shelf cigars, and 2 everyday cigars. This pattern is also common with the other cigar of the month clubs out there.
As far as the newsletter goes, Premium Cigar of the Month Club sets the bar high! Here is what is included in the 4 page (2 page front and back) newsletter:
- Description of each cigar, including tasting notes and suggested drink pairings
- A table outlining the shape/size/strength (1-10)/country/panel rating (0-100) of each cigar
- Q&A section
- Price list for reordering any of the featured cigars at a members-only price
- Information pertaining to their other clubs (wine of the month, chocolate of the month, etc)
The newsletter was helpful, very informative and even humorous. It is obvious that great care and attention to detail is put into it.
Overall Experience
Their website is one of the most detailed of all of the clubs we’ve seen. For other clubs, we felt like we really had to dig for information, but for the Premium Cigar of the Month Club – we found that not only did they have all the basics clearly and plainly covered, but they also went into detail about many aspects of the club – such as how they select the cigars. They even show every single past club selection so you can see their track record – no other club that we know of does this!
We had no issues with our membership, so we didn’t need to contact support. However, we were in touch with one of their marketing reps and he was very helpful.
If you decide to opt for an ongoing monthly membership but find that you eventually need to cancel, it just takes a phone call (800-625-8238) or email (customerservice@cigarmonthclub.com).
From beginning to end, we’ve been very impressed with this club.
Value
The club normally costs $32.95 /mo including shipping, but they are regularly running deals that save you $10-$25 off multi-month membership plans, which would bring the price down to about $30 /mo.
The retail value of the cigars we received was right around the $30 mark, right on par for the price of the club.
As far as their reorder pricing goes, we found that they were cheaper than other retailers on the more expensive cigars (sometimes by as much as 20%!), about the same as other retailers for the mid-range cigars, but they seemed to run a little more expensive than other retailers for the cheaper cigars. So as with anything in life, shop around a bit – you may find that Premium Cigars is cheaper in some cases, sometimes significantly so.
Our Take on the Premium Cigar of the Month Club
Premium Cigar of the Month Club hits it out of the park, earning our coveted Editors’ Choice with a nearly perfect 5-star score. We did subtract a star on Value since they do not include any freebies like a cigar cutter, lighter or matches – but this is far from a deal-breaker!
Overall – we are super impressed. It is obvious that these guys pay attention to detail, take pride in their work, and strive to offer the best club for the money.
